As one of the leading UK hotel companies, Somerston Hotels Ltd recognise that we are responsible for achieving good environmental practices throughout our group and operating in a sustainable manner where feasible.

We are therefore committed to reducing the negative environmental impact of our business and continually improving our environmental performance, making it an integral and fundamental part of our business strategy and operating methods.

We are actively encouraging our employees to understand our environmental policy and engage in best practises across our hotels and central office. To achieve this aim we have a group environmental team in place that will develop and maintain new initiatives whilst continuing to raise awareness. 

Ongoing efforts will continue to be made to initiate control and reduce consumption of energy and we remain committed to install energy efficient equipment as and when required.

We shall remain dedicated and passionate in our efforts to minimise any negative impact of our business on the environment.

Our Environmental Policy

Somerston Hotels Ltd understands its responsibility to respect the environment and minimise any negative impact of our business on the environment.

We will:

  • Implement sound environmental practices in the design, development and operation of our hotels.
  • Where possible we will inform our guests about the differences they can make by saving energy, water, the use of products and services without impacting on their comfort during their stay.
  • We will continue to educate and involve employees in the implementation of this policy with an aim for greater commitment and improved environmental performance.
  • Work with suppliers and contractors who share our commitment and have compatible policies for managing their impact on the environment. 
  • Consumption of energy, water usage and waste will be recorded throughout our hotels and regularly audited and evaluated to ensure that objectives and targets for reduction are determined.
  • Manage waste generated from our hotels, continue to recycle where possible and reduce the percentage of our waste going into landfill.
  • Somerston Hotels will have a proactive and positive attitude to environmental issues and will review our Environmental Policy on an annual basis.
